Micah Cherina is a native of North Minneapolis who is currently a college student, attending St. Cloud State University. Micah is working on her academic behavior specialist licensure in special education. As an educator at Intermediate School District 287, where she works, Micah teaches social justice topics in her classroom and serves on the Racial Equity Leadership Board. At her home church, Micah also serves as a teacher and choreographer to the liturgical dance team and is one of the anchor members of the praise and worship team. Micah is a single mother of five children who are also blessed with many of the same gifts.

As a visual artist, Micah has painted murals recognized by City Pages and is a published author in Realities Magazine for her article titled “As a Black Mother”.

In addition, she has performed in musicals such as “So Blue”, “Adored”, and Sounds of Blackness own “The Night Before Christmas”. Micah has also been a costume designer for the African-American Anthropology “This is Why We Dream” written by Sam Reeves.

Micah Cherina is ultimately known for her distinctive vocal range and tone.

Micah has been singing since the age of 5, inspired by artists such as Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Brandy, and Monica. Micah sang in church choirs growing up and comes from a family that is musically inclined. Micah performs throughout the Twin Cities and is a 3-year member of the 3-time Grammy Award winning group Sounds of Blackness.
