Artisha Knight-Milon is a native of South Minneapolis and a graduate of Minneapolis Washburn High School, where she excelled in basketball, track and field, and academics. She was the Athena Award winner in her graduating class of 2010, qualifying twice for the state track and field meet as a sprinter. She also attended North Central University and Minneapolis Community and Technical College, and has worked the last seven years as a special education assistant for Minneapolis Public Schools, at which she co-founded UnLocKeD -- a developing methodology allowing students with special needs to perform music.

Under Knight-Milon’s leadership, UnLocKeD’s ensemble was a keynote performer at the 2019 NAfME convention in Orlando, Florida. She began performing with her family’s band at the age of 7 as a singer, keyboardist and drummer, and continues to perform at churches throughout the Twin Cities metropolitan area. She released her very first single titled “Amazing” in 2016, available on all digital platforms. Her vocal inspirations range from the likes of Sam Cooke, to Stevie Wonder to Brandy. She was also featured in “Crush Collison,” a short film by Cris Larson that was showcased at Minneapolis Institute of Arts -- along with other prominent museums.

Knight-Milon has been a proud member of the three-time Grammy Award winning Sounds of Blackness for three years, performing with the group on stages nationally and abroad. She resides now in Bloomington with her husband and daughter. She remains passionate about faith, fitness and music.
